NUCMAT is developed with the purpose to facilitate implementation of an integrated national-level nuclear materials inventory management system in countries with medium and small nuclear program.
At present in many countries with small and medium nuclear program the inventory of nuclear materials is managed and kept in a hard copy form or using simple excel sheets. To provide efficient, continuing control of the nuclear materials, there is a need to implement an electronic registry (Database) that will maintain an accurate inventory, record all changes, and provide a recoverable history of all activities related with nuclear material disposition and inventory change.
NUCMAT is a software tool for nuclear materials accounting to be used on both State and Facility levels. The system can be used at locations outside of facilities with amount of nuclear materials (less than 1 eff kg) [1-4].
The key principle of NUCMAT is comprehensiveness from point of view of IAEA Safeguards as well as simplicity and user friendliness.
NUCMAT provides convenient and effective access to information about nuclear materials that efficiently assist the user to perform accounting for and control of nuclear materials. Storing data in electronic form allows to provide with required reports, quick access to data as well as to perform analysis of data and present data in the form of reports, tables and maps.
